Insurance and Health & Safety
Insurance and Health & Safety
The University must be satisfied in respect of health and safety arrangements for your placement.
Prior to starting your placement:
Your placement provider will be required to confirm in writing via The University of Sheffield Letter of Expectation that they have Health and Safety policies and procedures and Employers Liability insurance in place.
The Year in Industry team will send this letter to your employer in advance of your placement starting.
You will not be allowed to start your placement until we have received a signed copy of the Letter of Expectation from your employer.
If you are undertaking an overseas placement you will need to complete the University Risk assessment and apply for the University Travel Insurance. Information on what is covered can be found in the Policy Summary.
Please be aware that the University's travel insurance for overseas placements will NOT cover you for work place accidents/ illnesses. If your host employer will not cover you for this then you will have to arrange your own insurance cover for work place/related accidents/illness.
