The Faculty of Engineering has a dedicated Year in Industry Team whose role is to support Year in Industry students during your placement year.
The Year in Industry Team will remain in contact with you to monitor progress and check how you're doing throughout the placement.
If you do have any concerns about your health (physical or mental) please don't hesitate to contact the Year in Industry team in confidence.
If you are absent from placement due to sickness for more than 7 calendar days, you are required to complete an extenuating circumstances form and return this to Year in Industry team along with relevant documentary evidence where appropriate.
As an employee your placement provider may provide access to support via a free, confidential helpline . Information about such support is likely to be in your staff handbook or on the HR webpages for staff.

The Faculty of Engineering has a Well Being Officer who you can have 1-1 appointments (online), this is often a good place to start if you are not sure whether you need more specialist support.

If we feel that it is in your best interest for your placement to end due to significant absence from placement, the University has the right to terminate your placement.

Please inform us immediately about any concerns you may have about your health, safety and wellbeing at engineering-placements@sheffield.ac.uk. If required, a member of the Year in Industry Team will visit your company to check your working environment and address your concerns, carrying out any necessary risk analysis.
