The Engineering Placements Team manages the industrial placement programmes within the Faculty of Engineering and will support you with your placements journey - both before and during your placement.

Placement and Employability Manager
With over 20 years experience of supporting student employability in HE, Claire is passionate about placements and has designed, developed and delivered a range of placement programmes and employability modules. Claire is also a qualified Careers Consultant and chairs the Faculty of Engineering Employability Special Interest Group.

Galina Balikhin
Engineering Placement Officer
(Aero, Mech, Bio & Civil Engineering degrees)
Having worked in HE for over 18 years, Galina is dedicated to developing student employability and supporting their professional development. Galina maintains strong professional relationships with businesses, and has developed placement opportunities for Faculty of Engineering students over the last 15 years. She received the Award for Excellence in Learning & Teaching as voted for by students of the Faculty of Engineering.

Matt Watts
Engineering Placement Officer
(ACSE, EEE, CBE, MAT & COMP degrees)
Matt has worked within Higher Education for over 10 years. He is very passionate about year in industry placements and knows first hand about the benefits they can bring.
He is dedicated to sourcing excellent placement opportunities as well as developing student employability and supporting their professional development.
Matt's main strength is creating and maintaining excellent relationships with employers offering both graduate and placement year opportunities, as well as being genuinely approachable and passionate about helping students on their career paths.
Liam Foster
Industrial Placement Support Assistant
Liam is based in the Heartspace Employability and Placements Hub where he is the first point of contact for all enquiries regarding industrial placements within the Faculty of Engineering. He provides advice, guidance and encouragement to students interested supplementing their studies with employment experience.

Industrial Placement Administrator
As the Industrial Placement Administrator Chris is responsible for ensuring that the administration side of the Engineering Placements Team running smoothly and effectively so that they are able to support students as effectively as possible.
