Degree Specifications
The 'Year in Industry' title is only applicable if the role you undertake has the technical elements relevant for your course.
The Year in Industry Programme Lead in your department is responsible for approving your placement and you cannot commence a placement without their approval.
The Year in Industry is assessed on a pass/fail basis.
In order to be awarded a degree with the title 'Year in Industry' you need to both complete the placement year and pass the formal assessments.
The Year in Industry does not count towards your overall degree classification.
If your role is not technically relevant to the degree you are undertaking, you will switch to a Degree with Employment Experience (DEE).
You need to average 55% in order to be allowed to undertake a Year in Industry placement
If following the Spring Exam Period you have not obtained at least 100 credits and are at risk of failing the year, you will not be permitted to proceed on your placement

Do I still have to pay tuition fees?
When registered on the Year in Industry programme, as part of your annual registration for the placement year you are required to pay a reduced tuition fee. You can find more information on the 'Preparing for Placement' web page.
Does a Year in Industry act as a percentage towards my final grade?
The Year in Industry does not count towards your overall degree classification, however it does appear on both your degree title and your HEAR.
