The 'Year in Industry' / 'Industrial Placement year' title is only applicable if the role you undertake has the technical elements relevant for your course.
If you want to pursue a role which is not technically related to your degree, this is possible via the University 'Placement Year'. Please contact engineering-placements@sheffield.ac.uk to discuss this option.
The academic Employability Lead in your school is responsible for approving your placement and you cannot commence a placement without their approval.
The Year in Industry/ Industrial placement year is assessed on a pass/fail basis.
In order to be awarded a degree with the title 'Year in Industry'/ 'Industrial placement year' you need to both complete the placement year and pass the formal assessments.
