Placement tutor & mid placement visit:
In autumn you will be contacted by the Year in Industry Team and introduced to your placement tutor who will be responsible for visiting you and assessing your work.
Mid placement visits are carried out from December - March, the date is determined by when you started your placement and the availability of yourself, your line manager and your placement tutor.
The visit may be virtual or take place in person depending on what is most appropriate. Overseas placements will always have a virtual visit.
Two weeks prior to the visit taking place you will need to complete the Pre-Visit Form ( available in the Year in Industry blackboard site) and upload it onto the Year in Industry blackboard site.
More details on the mid placement visit can be found on the 'Assessments' page.
After Completing your placement:
Submit Final Placement Report.
Present & Submit Poster/Oral Presentation (usually within the first three weeks of Autumn term).
Complete the placement feedback form which will be emailed to you.
Ask your line manager to complete feedback forms which will be emailed to them at the end of the placement.
Optional but highly recommended!
Keep a diary/record of the skills you are developing and the goals you have achieved.
If possible, register for your company's Monitored Professional Development Scheme (MPDS). Maintaining a record of your placement experiences will support you in your completion of your end of placement assessment and, if applicable, eventual application for Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. You may also find the information on chartership useful.
You may also find it useful to use the University's mySkills app to record and reflect on your transferable skills development.
