Your Responsibilities whilst on Placement
Additional Responsibilities & Expectations:
Whilst you are on placement, you are expected to:
Keep contact with the University of Sheffield via email (engineering-placements@sheffield.ac.uk) and telephone: 0114 222 9733 / 0114 215 7062.
Student Attendance Monitoring is compulsory and must therefore be responded to within two working days after receiving an attendance monitoring email. Failure to respond on more than one occasion will lead to this being reported to the academic head of department.
Agree on objectives and a personal development plan with your Line Manager.
Inform the University if there is a change in any of the arrangements for your placement from those originally agreed e.g. location, line manager, nature of work, duration, change of placement year accommodation’ address.
Adhere to your placement providers confidentiality including full compliance with any Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDA).
If you have been required to sign an NDA, please notify the Year In Industry Team so signatures can be arranged in advance for the visiting Placement Tutor.
Observe and act in accordance with the host employer’s Code of Conduct for employees.
Inform the Year in Industry team of any unplanned absences from the workplace (e.g. sickness) that last longer than 5 days.
For attendance monitoring purposes, please ensure you put an 'out of office' message on your emails whenever you are on annual leave, business trips or similar, with clear dates explaining when this is from and to.
Ensure you have read and acted on any information likely to affect you on return to the University once the placement has finished e.g. module information.
As recommended, but not essential, maintain your online Professional Development record with your preferred, relevant Professional Institution.
