IBM Case Study
Simone Jain
Developer Experience Intern - IBM
MComp Computer Science
What did you do on your placement?
Being a part of MQ’s Developer Experience (DevEx) team, I created many valuable assets which bridge the gap between hashtag#ibmmq and the developer community – supporting them from discovery to deployment. These assets have taken the form of articles, tutorials and even videos on the IBM Developer YouTube channel! As a team, we’ve also run 'IBM MQ Developer Essentials' workshops at several universities, through which we have introduced over 250 students to enterprise messaging!
Outside of my role, I was chosen to be a part of some exciting events at the Labs:
- I demoed the MQ Showcase App to a diverse audience, including IBM clients and execs, at the 'Festival of Innovation' during the Hursley Summit.
- I prepared and delivered an engaging talk on the importance of social media for developers at the Developer Profession Recognition Day.
- I helped to organise the Hursley Watch Party for this year’s SKO1, the biggest sales kick-off of the year!
What was a highlight of your placement experience?
A highlight for me was being recognised with the ‘Client and Partner Success Award’ for my work in this role.
What has completed a placement done for you?
I’ve grown so much both personally and professionally during my time at IBM - not only because of the variety of experiences I've had, but because of my incredible teammates.
What are your plans for after your placement?
I’ve loved being a part of this unique and dynamic team for over a year now and don’t want it to end, so I’m pleased to announce that I’ll be continuing in my role with the DevEx team whilst completing my final year at The University of Sheffield!
